Camp is tomorrow!

Hey all! We can't wait to see you all tomorrow at Camp! It's going to be our best, and busiest, year yet. Please be courteous to others as you move through the crowd. Bakers--please be mindful of all the bakers who'd like to display their cupcakes. Bakers, you can taste too! In fact, we hope you do!

The doors open to the public at 11. We're raffling off a $25 gift card to BAR, so make sure you get an admission ticket when you walk through. Also, CARRY-OUTS are NOT permitted. Please inform tasters of that if you see them loading up containers (or even carrying them around). They will be stopped at the door and be asked to leave the cupcakes or stay to eat them while they are at camp. (Our police will be out in full force!)

We want everyone to have an opportunity to enjoy cupcakes in a free and open environment. The event is from 11-1. We encourage you to stay and have some tasty pizza at BAR, they will be open for lunch! Please know that there is a maximum capacity on the rooms where cupcakecamp will be held, so we may hold a line at the door so we don't get too packed. Crowd control is a good thing!

On sale at camp for $14 each. All the sponsors and donors are listed on the back. Proceeds from the sale of the shirt are going to the Closer to Free campaign! Awesome reproduction by our t-shirt guys at Ransom Ink!

Camp is only a month away!

We are really looking forward to all of the cupcake craziness.
We've closed logo submissions for sponsors and bakers bringing more than 4 dozen cupcakes, but we will still list your name, so email us! If you're bringing 4 dozen or more cupcakes, we're considering you a sponsor. It's up to you to tell us if you prefer we list your business name or your individual name. ALSO--remember that no carry-outs are allowed, regardless of whether you're a baker or a taster. Please be courteous and leave with only leftover cupcakes you brought (should there be any, but we doubt it!) This allows everyone opportunity to sample cupcakes without bakers running out before the end of the event. AND while you're at BAR--you should stay for lunch! Their brews are exceptional and their pizza is amazing!

The Cupcake Tower

Each year they have donated a tower, which is the top prize for the amateur baker at the cupcake contest. Please stop by their website and facebook page and let them know how great they are!!

After tallying the votes from likes on facebook and our poll on the blog, we are pleased to announce the winner of the official camp t-shirt design is the orange cupcake! We will have a slightly different version of the design in print form for the t-shirt and will be posting exactly what the shirts will look like as soon as we can. Thanks for your votes!

What's in it for me?

Holy smokes! Camp is only 3 months away. We're stoked. While we work on collecting bakery sponsors and spreading the word about camp, we hope you're working on your finest delectable creations!

We recently received an email from a new baker asking us,
"What's the deal with this? What's my incentive, if its free?"

Well bakers, for the past two years, we've had at-home and professional bakers attend camp. They bring their cupcakes and spread the word about their business. Our attendees include brides-to-be, party planners, cupcake connoisseurs, and more. Everyone knows word-of-mouth marketing is the best kind of marketing (and it's free). So consider bringing your cupcakes to CAMP, come to network, and maybe collect some ideas from other bakers too...

We want your designs!

We're crowdsourcing the design of the 2012 CupcakeCamp t-shirt and we want your submission! Email us your super funky fresh design ideas. We'll put them up for voting at the beginning of August. If your design is selected, you're name or company will go on the back of the shirt, we'll mention you at camp, and you get to come taste cupcakes for FREE (of course, everyone gets to come and taste cupcakes for free...but hey, it's still a perk!)

We're crowdsourcing the 2012 camp t-shirt! We posted the vote on the right and will leave it up until Tuesday, July 31, so get your vote in. Will it be red? Will it be gray? Will it be turquoise? You decide campers!

Announcing Cupcakecamp New Haven 2012!

It's our third annual Cupcakecamp New Haven! Join us on OCTOBER 20 at BAR in New Haven for an awesome day of tasting, sharing, judging and donating to a cause!

This year will feature a door giveaway, and a new "the tasters have spoken" contest to vote on the best tasting cupcake. We're signing on sponsors and bakers to make this camp the best one yet!

Although the event is still free for everyone, we strongly encourage you all to consider donating to a very special cause, that has personal meaning to us camp planners.

Those of you who attending the first camp in 2010 may have met Jodie and Kelli, the creative minds/crazy girls behind the scenes. Last year, Kelli planned camp all on her own. Jodie was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma at 22 weeks pregnant earlier in the year. So, in September, three weeks after she gave birth to her daughter, Lola Mae, Jodie was resuming cancer treatments at Smilow and Kelli was planning an awesome camp that encouraged support and donations to Closer to Free. This year, Jodie's back with Kelli and they're hoping to plan the best camp yet. Please remember that although camp is free for everyone, we want to support a place that provided support to us through a really difficult time.

Closer to Free at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven donations can be made here. They can also be made at the door when you arrive at camp in October! If you donate online, make sure to add CupcakeCamp New Haven in the 'Please tell us anything else you would like us to know about your gift' section...
